Born and raised in Niagara-on-the-lake, Marty Werner is not only a native to the Niagara Region but also to nurturing vineyards and creating small-batch wines. Marty grew up on his family’s 60-acre farm, working in the vineyard each summer. As such, he already has a lifetime of experience with grapes.
Martin has over 10 years of experience crafting premium wines in Ontario, New Zealand and California. He has embraced the concept wines must be expressive of their origins and a desire to showcase small-batch wines from multiple region and appellations internationally.
John grew up in the Niagara region in the 80’s and moved to the west coast earning a PhD in Biology at Simon Fraser University. After a successful career as a research scientist in molecular biology and neurophysiology at University of Chicago, Stanford University and Oregon Health Sciences University, he put his career on hold and returned to Niagara for family-driven issues. He was surprised and delighted to find the area had been remarkably transformed from stone-fruit and table grape farms to one of the premier areas in Canada for wine production. Excited by the changes to his childhood landscape, John joined a local winery and became immersed in the wine business. He has managed retail sales, inventory control, product delivery, licensee sales, online marketing and the wine club.
Growing up in the Niagara Peninsula, Matthew started working with wine before he was old enough to (legally) drink it! From there, he moved on to developing the beverage programs at some of the countries most respected restaurants (Momofuku, Patria, Oliver and Bonacini.)
Ten years ago, Matthew decided to move into wine importing and sales. Using his past knowledge and experience in the restaurant industry, he has grown a virtually unknown portfolio into one of the Ontario’s most respected one. Matthew holds a Sommelier Diploma (ISG), Professional Sake Certification and spends most of his time trying to master the art of drinking a glass of wine while playing Lego with his kids.
Born and raised in Niagara, Kim has worn many hats during her 25 years in the Ontario wine industry. Her first position opening “Wine Rack” retail outlets for Brights’ Wines (Vincor Canada) taught her the importance of understanding the end customer. Her sales acumen was further honed at the LCBO where she studied as a product consultant.
She then moved to an import agency where her responsibilities included LCBO submissions (both Vintages and General List programs) as well as consignment orders. Having gained experience in many different aspects of the wine industry, Kim became an independent sales representative and has spent the past 10 years selling Ontario and imported wine, beer and cider throughout the province.
