Origins Well Before 1662
Château de Pougelon, structure dating back to 1662, is situated in the Beaujolais region of France, near Mont Brouilly. It is owned by the Famille Descombe, a prominent winemaking family in the area since 1905, with the operations currently overseen by the fifth generation, Marine Descombe, and her husband. The estate’s primary focus is on producing high-quality wines from the Gamay grape, covering several prestigious Beaujolais Crus such as Brouilly, Fleurie, Juliénas, and Morgon, in addition to Beaujolais-Villages and a Chardonnay-based Beaujolais Blanc. The Descombe family is dedicated to an agroecological approach, actively converting their vineyards to organic farming and implementing measures to promote biodiversity and sustainability.
